Deborah Pauline Toporek, 65, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Her Graveside Service will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 in Emanu-El Cemetery, Sycamore Avenue, Maryville at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Debbie was born February 5, 1950 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Hyman S. Toporek and Edith Martin Toporek. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the College of Charleston and was a member of Synagogue Emanu-El.
Debbie was a warrior for humanity. She touched the lives and futures of thousands of Charleston's children through her teaching for over 30 years. She volunteered and then worked part time at various libraries. Her love of books and people was inspiring. She took amazing care of her beloved brother, David, and her parents Edith and Hymie throughout their lives. She was an amazing friend to all and an inspiration to her brother, Robert; her nephew, Bryan and his wife Alex. She was an awesome cousin and was loved by all. She gave life all one could ever ask and then some. The world is a better place because of her.
