Deborah Olliff Inabinet, 75, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 26, 2026, surrounded by her family and loving caregivers.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, on November 27, 1950, Deborah was the second and youngest daughter of Palmer Weldon Olliff and Doris Dinsmoor May Olliff.

Deborah graduated from First Baptist Church School in 1968 and went on to graduate in 1972 as a member of the first registered nursing class at Baptist College.

She devoted her nursing career to the operating room, where she held numerous supervisory and training positions and earned the respect of her colleagues through her dedication to patient care. Among her professional accomplishments was assisting with the introduction of laparoscopic surgery. After a rewarding career in nursing, Deborah retired from Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in 1995.

Deborah had a wonderful sense of humor, a mischievous streak, and a knack for pulling off a good prank. She was generous by nature, always eager to give gifts, support charitable causes, and help those in need. Blessed with a remarkable creative talent, she could sew just about anything, from elaborate Halloween costumes and beautiful curtains to bedspreads and evening gowns. Her creativity extended to crocheting, jewelry making, Christmas ornaments, and decorating, always with an eye for beauty and an appreciation for the smallest details.

Deborah loved shopping, fashion, vintage jewelry, and anything that sparkled. Always dressed to the nines, she had a particular fondness for purple, her signature color. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she took decking the halls to an entirely different level, leaving no detail overlooked. Above all, she loved the Lord and found great joy in reading scripture and singing hymns. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she loved music and sharing that gift with others. Deborah had a fiery spirit, a larger-than-life personality, and often a flair for the dramatic. She was, in every sense of the word, a little extra, and those who knew and loved her wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Deborah had a lifelong love of animals, particularly her beloved Maltese dogs, which she proudly showed and with which she earned numerous awards. Her affection for animals extended beyond the ordinary, including her squirrel monkey, GiGi, and rhesus monkey, Baby. In her later years, she found special comfort in her cherished stuffed monkey, affectionately known as “Monk Monk,” a constant companion who brought her joy, reassurance, and a sense of peace. And, of course, Deborah had an undeniable sweet tooth, with a special fondness for chocolate and just about anything sweet.

Deborah is survived by her daughter, Dina Mewett, and her husband, Graham, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; her sister, Pamela Olliff, of North Charleston, South Carolina; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the clergy and congregation of Church of the Resurrection, whose spiritual guidance, fellowship, and loving support brought Deborah great comfort and peace, both before and throughout her declining health.

Special gratitude is also extended to the devoted caregivers at Fellowship at Carolina Park, whose compassion, kindness, and genuine affection brought Deborah comfort and dignity throughout her final journey.

The family is profoundly grateful to Lutheran Hospice for the extraordinary compassion, tenderness, and unwavering support they provided throughout Deborah’s final journey. Their care extended far beyond tending to her physical needs, offering comfort, reassurance, and guidance to her family during some of life’s most difficult moments. Their kindness, dedication, and genuine concern made an immeasurable difference, allowing Deborah to spend her final days surrounded by love, dignity, and peace.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service. A tribute by the Nurses Honor Guard will be included in the service, followed by interment at Riverview Memorial Park Cemetery.

In celebration of Deborah’s life and her lifelong love of all things purple, the family warmly invites those attending to wear something purple in her honor.
