Deborah "Debbie" Trammell Christian 67, of James Island, SC, wife of Thomas "Tom" Charles Christian, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 while in the hospital undergoing treatment for bone marrow cancer.
Debbie was born on January 19, 1957 and lived most of her life in Taylors, SC. She graduated from Riverside HS in 1975 and went on to study marine biology at the College of Charleston, graduating in 1979. During college, she met her husband, Thomas Christian, and lived on Folly Beach, which remained her favorite place. Debbie and Tom married in 1980 in Taylors and raised their two daughters, Jody and Lara, there.
Debbie had many hobbies that she was passionate about, including fossils, birds, music, piano, and marine life. She especially enjoyed collecting shells and shark teeth at Folly Beach. Known for her ironic sense of humor, Debbie could always keep a group of friends laughing.
Debbie is survived by her husband of 44 years, Tom; daughter, Jody Christian; daughter, Lara Dougherty; and her son-in-law, Lewis Dougherty. She was predeceased by her father, mother, and two brothers.
Services will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street at 12:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 and/or World Wildlife Fund, PO Box 97180, Washington, DC 20090.
