Dean Joseph Bender, 63, of Folly Beach, South Carolina, died Monday, October 8, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street, at 10:00 am. Inurnment, Holy Cross Cemetery.
Dean was born May 15, 1949, in New York, New York, son of the late Dean Dewitt and the late Theresa Flynn Bender. He was a engineer in the Merchant Marines. Dean loved the water and as a Merchant Marine, he sailed the ocean blue. He attended the Church of the Nativity on Folly Beach.
He is survived by his sister, Catherine A. Bender (Robert N. De Santis) of Orlando, FL; nephews, Chad Patrick De Santis and Dean Michael De Santis (Laura), all of Orlando, FL; godson, Richard Summers of James Island; close family friends, Brian Seales of Long Island, NY and Marylnn and Rick Summers of James Island.
