David Ervin Walsh, PhD, 76, of Hollywood, SC, husband of Wendy Christopherson Walsh entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 19, 2016. His memorial service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
David was born August 7, 1939 in Benson, Minnesota, son of the late John J. Walsh and Stella Urbaniak Walsh. He was a graduate of St. Cloud State, received his Master's Degree and Ph.D from North Dakota State University. He was a retired Food Scientist professor, and a consultant to the food industry. He was a recipient of The Greater ND Association award for Science and Industry. He was an avid boater and fisherman and after moving to South Carolina continued his love of water by becoming an advanced PADI scuba and rescue diver. He also joined the Charleston Sail and Power Squadron from which he received many awards including the Golden Eagle Award for Cooperative Charting of the Intra Coastal Waterway and the Chapman Award for support of education and safe boating.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wendy C. Walsh of Hollywood, SC; two sons, Dr. Mark Walsh (Tammie) of Central, SC, William Walsh (Lori) of Charlotte, NC; brother Jon Walsh (Kathleen) of St. Paul, MN; sister Marie Esser (Richard) of Brainerd, MN; four grandchildren Zachary Walsh, Noah Holliday, Hannah Rollins (Robert), Krista Walsh, and one great-grandchild, Jaxton Rollins.
