David Michael Sidbury, 66, of Awendaw, South Carolina, husband of Debra Freedman Sidbury, died Monday, March 6, 2017. His family invites friends to celebrate his life at a drop-in from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Bulls Bay Golf Club, 995 Bulls Bay Blvd., Awendaw, SC 29429. A Funeral Service will be held in Charlotte, NC at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15 at Sharon Baptist Church, 6411 Sharon Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
David was born May 19, 1950 in Abingdon, VA, son of James Woodman Sidbury and Martha Roof Sidbury. David grew up in Charlotte, NC, where he worked alongside his father in the construction industry. He later founded a successful commercial construction and development firm. Known to his friends as MacGyver, David was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Wofford College.
Everyone who knew David saw him at his happiest when he was on the water. He and Debbie spent many years cruising on the boats that they loved.
In addition to his wife, Debbie, he is survived by his sons, Benjamin F. Sidbury (Deirdre) and James M. Sidbury; his grandson, Coleman J. Sidbury; his siblings, James R. Sidbury (Cathy), Barbara S. Eckard (Blake), and Mary S. Pierce (Ron); his sister-in-law, Rebecca Temple; and numerous nieces and nephews.
