David Lee Searcy

David Lee Searcy, 84, of Summerville, South Carolina, husband of Linda St.Clair Searcy, entered eternal rest Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

David was born May 19, 1939, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of the late William Clarence Searcy and Ester Josephine Wright. After Dave moved his family to Charleston, SC, in 1972, 45 years he ended up retiring as Controller with Infinger Transportation (upon its sale), then Mueller Windows and Doors. Dave was married to the love of his life, Linda, for over 64 years, what was always described by all as a genuine loving couple. Dave was a family man who dedicated his entire life to his family and friends. Dave lit up a room or gathering with his presence, not to mention, even in his 80s, no one could keep up with him on the dance floor—just the best of the best.

He is survived by three daughters, Darla S. Zacharias (Jim) of Columbus, GA, Carla S. Norville (Mitch) of Kiawah Island, SC; Diana Lynn Vanbeschoten (Van), Charleston, SC; and son, Jeffrey David Searcy (Johnel) of Anderson, SC. Grandchildren Griffith (Liz), Megan, Hunter, Taylor (Ellen), Gerrit (Katherine), Jordan, Ashleigh (Tim), Stephen (Kayla), Austin (deceased) Parker. 7 Great grandchildren, Ashton, Brady, Everett, JJ, Emery, Hank, and Lyla.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Clarence Searcy, his mother, Ester Josephine Searcy, brother Clarence Jr., sister Juanita Givens, and grandson Austin Zacharias.

In place of flowers, Dave would ask that you care a little more, love a little harder, and pray a bit longer.
