David (Moose) Seymour Quarterman, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Virginia Armstrong Quarterman entered into eternal rest Sunday, August 26, 2012. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Epworth United Methodist Church, 1540 Camp Road at 10:00 am. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL and at the church one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
Moose was born July 29, 1924 in Waycross, Georgia, son of Vossey Alexander Quarterman and Mary Wilson Quarterman. He served in the United States Navy for nine years during World War II and the Korean War serving on the U.S.S. Mattaponi AO-41 and the U.S.S. Alsea ATF-97. He retired as a Marine Electrician with the Navy Yard. He was a member of Stonewall Jasper Knights of Pythias, James Island Lodge #396 A.F.M., and American Legion Post #147 (James Island). Mr. Quarterman was also a charter member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his four daughters: Virginia "Jinks" Q. Patrick (Gene) of Hollywood, SC, Lynn Q. Waldrop (Jim) of James Island, SC, Anne Q. Patrick (Aubrey) of St. George, SC, and Janice Q. Goldman (Leonard) of Blair, SC; seven grandchildren: Courtney, Rachel, David, Daniel, Megan, Madison, and Ashley; a sister, Malvina Q. Crosby of Charleston, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
