David Wilson Low, Jr., 92, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Frances Williams Low passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 3:00 p.m. Entombment, Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Mount Pleasant Chapel.
David was born on August 29, 1924 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Hermine Shier Low and David Wilson Low, Sr. David attended Murray Vocational School and served in the US Navy during World War II. He was employed as an electrician at ESSO Standard Oil Company before opening EXXON Service Station in Mt. Pleasant. He retired in 1993.
David enjoyed playing basketball at Murray Vocational School and later on the "Rinky Dink" semi-pro basketball team. he was also an avid bowler in the Charleston Area. He was a loyal fan of the Carolina Gamecocks. David enjoyed shrimping and fishing. He was also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Frances of seventy-two years; two sons: David Wilson Low, III (Shirley) and William Stanley Low, Sr. (Mary) of Mount Pleasant; two daughters: Judy Low Folk (Bill) of Fayetteville, AR and Janet Elaine Low of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Hermine Low Smith of North Charleston; nine grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
