David Lloyd Huddlestun, 20, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010 in Richardson, Texas. Born on June 22, 1990 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, David was the beloved son of John and Birgit Huddlestun, and big brother of Peter. David had many interests in his short life. He began rock and mineral collecting at age six, was passionate about nature and birding, played cello, studied computer programming and political science, and enjoyed long late-night walks on campus. He did volunteer work at The Center for Birds of Prey in Awendaw, SC and The Dallas Zoo in Texas. David was a much loved McDermott Scholar at the University of Texas in Dallas and an editor of the school newspaper there. His family, friends, and fellow students knew him as a kind, gentle, and generous spirit, with a wonderful, witty sense of humor. We deeply mourn his passing, but celebrate the time he was with us and so enriched our lives. He is survived by his parents, John and Birgit Huddlestun of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his younger brother, Peter Huddlestun of Mt. Pleasant, SC; paternal-grandparents, Lloyd and Gladys Huddlestun of Cocoa, FL, maternal-grandmother, Elisabeth Ryborg of Frederikssund, Denmark and extended family. The relatives and friends of David Huddlestun are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life on Saturday, July 17, 2010 in J HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the Mount Pleasant Chapel.
