David DeWitt Hooks, 79, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, July 10, 2025.
David was born January 17, 1946 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Virgil Travis Hooks and Beverly Robinson Hooks. He was affectionately called Bob for his resemblance to Bob Barker. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, the Atlanta Braves, and Nascar. David was known for his love of animals, often bringing home every stray he encountered. Later in life, David found joy in staying busy by bagging groceries. This role allowed him to engage with others, and he never passed up an opportunity to share a joke or a laugh. David will be remembered as a kind, caring, and humorous man.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelley Hooks Fox (Husband, David); sister, Carol Christine Hooks Pugliese (Husband, Roger); brother, Travis Andrew Hooks; sister, Susan Hooks Styles (Husband, Al); grandson, Nicholas Adam Hooks; granddaughter, Kaela Noell Hartsell (wife, Julia); great-granddaughter, Chelsea Amber Hartsell; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristina Kirby Hooks; and granddaughter, Chelsea Amber Tumbleston.
Memorials may be made to any Animal Society of your choosing.
