David Ross Harp

December 12, 1948 — August 4, 2011

David Ross Harp, 62, husband of Martha Pedroza Harp passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011, after fighting a short battle with cancer.


The family and friends of David Harp are invited to attend his funeral service Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.  Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends at the chapel from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. 


David was born on December 12, 1948 in Corbin, KY, the son of the Margaret Hausman Harp and the late Gleason "Carbide" Harp.  He served 21 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a TSGT from Charleston Air Force Base in 1988. He worked for MUSC for ten years, before leaving to work and retire from Georgia-Pacific in Russellville, SC.  He also worked for Dyna Corporation at the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, SC, and later at Honeywell Corporation. 


 Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Martha Pedroza Harp; his two sons, David Lee Harp and his wife, Ana, of Phoenix, AZ, and Michael Garrett Harp of Ladson, SC; two grandchildren, Izabella and Corbin Harp, both of Phoenix, AZ; his mother, Margaret Hausman Harp of Corbin, KY; his sister, Joy Miller and her husband, Marty, one brother, Gus Harp, and niece, Garra Harp, all of Corbin, KY.
