David Allan Bannan, 60, of North Charleston, SC, was called to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, April 13, 2019. He was the son of Celia Shaw Hunt and stepfather Edward F. Hunt, Jr.
Born with Cerebral Palsy July 13, 1958, David overcame many obstacles with the loving support of his mother, late father (Carl E. Shaw), his brother (Phillip C. Shaw, wife Ada of Bluffton, SC), Sister (Karen C. Swayne of North Charleston, SC), extended family and many friends. He was thrilled to be a 23 year employee of Enterprise Car Leasing and would happily describe his grand retirement party given by the company. David had a passion for bowling and loved participating in the Special Olympics.
He was a member of Northwood Church, Summerville, SC and happily served the church parking team ministry for many years. His family is thankful for the many years of support provided David by the Disabilities Board of Charleston County and offer special love and appreciation to his service coordinator, Gail Clark.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, David is survived by his brother, Phillip, cherished sister-in-law, Ada L. Shaw, sister Karen C. Swayne, four nieces, Carla N. Swayne, Coral B. Lucena, Alexandria L. Shaw, Madison L. Shaw, a nephew Tristian W. Sterner, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, including Aunt Dee and Aunt Lois who always remembered him on his birthday and at Christmas throughout his lifetime, as well as, Andrew Chester, his dear friend and room mate of twenty years. David lived life beautifully, and in his broken speech pattern, his last words were clearly, "I see you Lord".
Celebration of David's life will be held at Northwood Church, 4020 2nd Avenue, Summerville, SC 29486 on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 11:00 am. Visitation with the family will be held at the church 10:30 am until the time of the service. The interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Flowers will be accepted and gifts can be made in his memory to Northwood Church.
