Daphne Edwards Ballinger, 78, of Summerville, SC, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at a local hospital. Her funeral service will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 in the North Trident Baptist Church, 9939 Jamison Road, at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Daphne was born September 16, 1939 in Loris, SC, daughter of the late Bea Marie Edwards Cullen. She was a retired sewing instructor for Manhattan Shirt Company, Levi Straus and later worked as manager of Day Bingo in Goose Creek. Daphne loved to spend time with her grown grandchildren, Dillon and Olivia. Her favorite thing to do was to cook a meal or cake for a loved one or neighbor and was always thinking of others with serci's and presents. She was past president of the Hillbilly Mamas and devoted much time to raising money for Shriner's Children's Hospital with her first and only love, Tom. Daphne was a former member of Dogwood Baptist Church, Loris, SC and a member of North Trident Baptist Church, Summerville, SC.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia Leigh Warren (Craig) of Moncks Corner, SC; son, Greg Ballinger of Summerville, SC; two sisters, Kay Renau of North Charleston, SC and Sue Conlon of PA; grandchildren, Dillon Fletcher Warren and Olivia Leigh Warren; nieces and nephews: Myra Howe, Alicia Peterson, Anthony Medina and Jessica Diamond. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Grover Ballinger and sister, Billie S.Wood of York.
Momma, Granny, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, our lives will not be as laugh filled without her but we know she is in heaven and able to dance and walk and sing again.
