Daniel B. Williamson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and caretaker on August 27, 2026 at the age of 104. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina on January 13, 1922 to the late Frank M. and Lillian R. Williamson. He married the love of his life, Bernice C. Williamson on February 14, 1947. Family and friends of Daniel B. Williamson are invited to attend his funeral services at Stuhr's Funeral Home, 2180 Greenridge Rd, North Charleston, SC on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and the service will be at 11:00 am officiated by Pastor Tommy Meador. An entombment graveside service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service.
Daniel was a longtime member of Cherokee Place United Methodist Church in North Charleston, SC. In his later years he attended Northwood Baptist Church where he grew his love for the Lord and developed many lasting friendships.
Daniel attended Chicora grade and high school. In the 9th grade he transferred to Murray Vocational High School. Daniel participated in numerous sports. He was a Golden Glove Boxing Champion. Daniel loved fishing with his family and friends. Daniel proudly served his country during World War Il in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 - 1945. He was honorably discharged on 5 October 1945. After his service he worked for and retired as a machinist from the Charleston Naval Shipyard in 1977.
The family will be forever grateful for the love and care provided by his caregiver, Bouneisha Tolliver during these past months. She was a wonderful blessing provided by our Lord and Savior. In addition, our deepest appreciation is extended to Roper St. Francis Hospice care for their outstanding care.
Daniel is survived by his daughters and son; Diane W. Bennett (Nelson) of Bonneau, SC, Brenda W. Nix (Nicky) of Moncks Corner, SC, Debra W. Dear (Willie) of Lebanon, SC, Rodney D. Williamson (Pam) of Middleburg, FL. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Bernice C. Williamson, his mother and father Frank M. and Lillian R. Williamson, his four sisters, Lillian Dickinson, Ethel New, Myrtle Larisey, and Annie Ivie, his granddaughter Ashley Dear and his grandson Scott Williamson.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Northwood Baptist Church, 2200 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
