Daniel (Dan) Alfred Morgan, 89, of Charleston, South Carolina died on Saturday, June 28, 2025. His Memorial Service will be held Sunday, July 13, 2025, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends following the service.
Dan was born June 26, 1936, in Cayce, SC, son of the late Alfred Daniel Morgan and Dorothy Davis Morgan and spent most of his life in Columbia and Chapin. He served in the Air Force National Guard and was deployed to Spain during the Berlin Crisis in 1961 and 1962. He retired from SCE&G after 37 years, as a master electrician and electrical engineer. He then came out of retirement to be a consultant for SCANA Corporation for several years.
Dan was a member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, involved in the missions and deacon ministries. For ten years, he enjoyed his volunteer service at Good Works in Chapin. Dan enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, visiting the beach, and spending time with family and friends. He was a master of all trades, fixing anything that needed to be fixed. He had a witty sense of humor and a particular awareness of and quick, discerning response to those around him in need. Dan loved his Lord, his family, and his friends and considered himself blessed.
In addition to his wife of 27 years, Charlene Logan Morgan, Dan is survived by his children, Tami Morgan Huggins (Thomas) of Meggett, SC and Shari Morgan Phillips (Robert) of Meggett, SC; and Charlene’s children, David Mark Husband (Debbie) of Alexandria, VA, Shelley Husband Rinker (Cameron) of Dublin, OH, and Michael Charles Mantz (Carmen) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Kristen Walpole (Gene), Daniel Huggins, Patrick Phillips, William Phillips (Anna), Wesley Phillips (Erin), Tenayzia Jones, David Husband (Shannan), Matthew Husband (Haley), Rachelle Husband (Jot), Zachary Husband, Chris Rinker (Ally), and Jessica Sapp (Clay); 11 great-grandchildren (plus one on the way); sister, Virginia Pechin of Sudlersville, MD, and beloved nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his late wife, Annette Krell Morgan (d. 1996).
