Daniel Joseph "Joe" Huggins, 81, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Arlene Youmans Huggins, entered into eternal rest Saturday, August 27, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 29, 2016, in Charleston Baptist Church, 13 San Miguel Road, at 11 a.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 28, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Daniel was born December 5, 1934 in Denmark, South Carolina, son of the late Thomas Byrnes Huggins and Leila Huggins McCracken. Joe is survived by his wife, Arlene, of 45 years and their children: Dan Huggins (Tammy) of McClellanville, SC, and Joyce Pyle (Marty) of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren: Ashlyn Grace, Russell Byrnes, Andrew Craig, and Molly Agnes; and two sisters: Mazie Hightower and Cynthia O'Quinn, both of Branchville, SC.

Joe served two years in the United States Army and graduated from Clemson University in 1963. He worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard as an electrical engineer for 30 years. He served the Lord faithfully as a deacon and served on various committees at Citadel Square Baptist Church for over 37 years before becoming a member of Charleston Baptist Church. Joe was an avid Clemson fan, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren.
