Daniel Thomas Blackwell, 72, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Janice Skinner Blackwell, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 8, 2024. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at First Love Baptist Church, located inside Iglesia Bautista Victoria at 2631 Ashley River Road. Daniel was born October 11, 1951 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, son of the late Thomas Earle Blackwell and Pearl Hensley Blackwell. He was a member of the Charleston Elks Lodge 242. Daniel graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1973 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He went on to obtain his Professional Engineer license and supported his country as an electrical engineer at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, SPAWAR Charleston, and its predecessors.
Dan was dedicated to his family, especially his loving wife of nearly 45 years. More than anything, Dan cherished his relationship with the Lord. As a teenager, Dan made an unwavering commitment to walk with Him, and he lived his life as an example of the gentle power of God’s love.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Justin Thomas Blackwell; daughter, Lindsay Blackwell Smith (Thomas); and grandsons James Carson Smith and Henry Parker Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Earle Blackwell and Pearl Hensley Blackwell, and a brother who died early in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Dan may be made to First Love Baptist Church, 3642 Savannah Highway #116–204, Johns Island, SC 29455.
