Cynthia was born in Newport News, Virginia on September 29, 1960 to John Leighton Sturdivant (deceased) and Marlene Deitrich Sturdivant. She was the third of six children (five girls and one boy). She attended Bethel High School in Hampton Virginia and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Campbell University, Buies Creek, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Business Administration/Accounting degree. Cynthia proudly served her country having worked for the last six years as an Accountant for the Naval Information Warfare Center – Atlantic in North Charleston. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, "Ti Ti", Godmother, and friend. She looked forward to family gatherings whether with her biological family, her lowcountry family, or the large extended "military" family that grew during the nearly 29 years she supported her husband's Air Force career. Her mac and cheese, collard greens, and German chocolate cake were just a few of the frequently requested crowd pleasers. Prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic she had been an active member of Faith Church. She was regularly seen volunteering at one of the church food banks or serving at the Summerville campus greeter desk.

Cynthia had an eye for beauty, an affinity for angel collectibles (as evidenced by the numerous figurines seen throughout the house), and a true servant's heart, and received her greatest joy when she was able to put a smile on someone's face or lend a helping hand to a person she had just met or known for years. She enjoyed crafting things with her hands and was often asked to create flower arrangements for weddings and showers. She loved crocheting and quilting and blessed many family members and friends with her creations. She had a green thumb which could be seen by anyone who walked by her cubicle at work. She could be counted on to offer a kind word and was always there to listen and comfort a loved one going through a difficult time. She was down to earth and always accepted people as they were, never judging them but showing God's love to them.

Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted and loving husband of almost 39 years, Melvin D. Willis; her son's Melvin D. Willis II and Marquel D. Willis; Marquel's girlfriend Chelsey Carroll and her daughter Lennon (who Cynthia had already adopted as her daughter-in-law and granddaughter); her mother, Marlene Sturdivant; her siblings Bonita Clark, John Sturdivant, Tammy Sturdivant (Blaise Boumkvo), Sonya Sturdivant-Singleton, and Crystal Sturdivant; a special sister-in-law, Sharon Willis-Fane; niece, Amber Willis; great nephew, Malachi Warren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren, and friends.
