Cynthia (Cindy) was born June 26, 1955, in Detroit, MI., daughter of the late John William Widnes, Sr. and Gevine Nelson Hoysler. Throughout her early years Cindy and her family lived in several states until settling in Raleigh, NC in the early 70’s. Cindy graduated from Sanderson High School in 1973 and attended Strathmore College. She worked in administrative services in a variety of businesses including architecture, technology, insurance, and publishing but her true passion was wellness and fitness instruction. Throughout the years she taught multiple styles of aerobics to full classes at many public and private facilities. Cindy built upon that passion by becoming a Kripalu certified yoga instructor in 2006 followed by advanced training in 2011. Cindy excelled at teaching and guiding yoga, mindfulness, and meditation practices with love, charm, and self-deprecating humor…laughter was required in all her classes. She was known for sharing her passion and loving kindness for her many adoring fitness and yoga students over the past 40 years.

Cindy and her husband Don enjoyed a wonderful marriage together filled with love, laughter, fine dining, theater, concerts, and global travel. Cindy and Don relocated from Raleigh to Mount Pleasant, SC in 2012. She is remembered by all who have had the good fortune to meet and know her as a kind, caring and generous soul; beautiful both inside and out; and filled with life and love.

She is survived by her loving husband of seventeen years, Donald Sturdivant, Jr.; mother, Gevine Nelson Hoysler of Raleigh, NC; brother, John William Widnes Jr., of Dilworth, MN; brother Bruce, and wife Elizabeth (Betsy) Widnes of Amelia Island, FL; and niece Shari and husband Don Hetzel of Chattanooga, TN.
