Mrs. Cynthia S Maxwell, 48, of Johns Island, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 15, 2025. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, June 21 at 1:00 pm at St. James Presbyterian Church, 1314 Secessionville Rd., Charleston, SC 29412. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Cynthia was born May 22, 1977 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late John Joyner and Yvonee Green. She graduated from St. Johns High School in 1995, and went on to attend Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA. She also received her Associates of Science from Trident Technical College and transferred to the Medical University of South Carolina, graduating with a Bachelor's of Health Science and Master's in Business Administration. She worked at Roper Hospital in the oncology department, and at MUSC in the OB/GYN department, and eventually became a grants coordinator. She enjoyed cruising, gardening, reading, and cooking. Mrs. Maxwell also enjoyed being a support group leader for the Scleroderma Foundation here in Charleston, South Carolina. She married the love of her life, LaJohno Maxwell, on June 2, 2001 and from this union they welcomed their twins, Mason Lamont Maxwell and Madison Shavon Maxwell on September 12th, 2006.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, LaJohno Maxwell; her children, Mason and Madison Maxwell; her mother, Yvonne Joyner; her mother in law, Olethia Maxwell; her brother, Ivin Joyner (Kim); her sister, Chirelle Joyner Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John Joyner; her father in law, Hector Maxwell Sr; and her nephew, Carrington Joyner.
