Curtis Gene Vinson, Sr., 75, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Rachael Redell Vinson, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, in a local hospital.
Born June 16, 1935 in Fort Gay, West Virginia he was the son of Simon Peter Vinson and Margie Adams Vinson. Mr. Vinson was a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Vinson retired from Toledo Scale, Toledo, Ohio. He was an avid fan of John Wayne.
Mr. Vinson is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rachael Vinson of North Charleston, SC; children: Pamela Walker of Oklahoma City, OK, Lisa Arvanitis (George), Tomiko Heninger (Larry), Curtis Vinson Jr. (Tia) all of Toledo, OH, Michael Vinson (Margarita) of Colorado Springs, CO, Bill Vinson of Toledo, OH, Brooks Vinson (Debbie) of Toledo, OH; step-daughter, Angela Craig (David) of Goreville, IL; 21 grandkids; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Joyce Lincolnogger of Hurricane, WV, Edgel C. Hash of Summerville, SC, Arlie V. Hash of Buffalo, KY, Lois L. Hash of St. Albans, WV, Anna P. Price of St. Albans, WV, Elizabeth Hartley, and Paul E. Hash of Thomasville, NC.
The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Friday, July 9, 2010 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
