Curtis Smith McCall died peacefully in his sleep following extended health issues. He was at home in his own bed.
Survivors include Anne Frances McCall, Catherine West McCall (Barbara), and Curtis Smith McCall, Jr. (Isabella); six grandchildren: Cate Blomquist, Wylie McCall, John Claypool, Meg McCall, Ches McCall, and Jack McCall; and a future grandson-in-law, Mike Marshall.
Curt is preceded in death by his lifelong companion and wife of 50 years, Marguerite Anne West McCall, his Golden Retriever, Lady, his parents, Francis and Ches McCall, his brother Ches, and many friends.
Curt was a graduate of Male High School in Louisville and Centre College in Danville, Kentucky; he received his Masters of Education in Counseling at the University of Louisville. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, he was a proud member of the US Marine Corps, and later, an Elder and Stephens Minister at his church, Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian.
Referred to as the living archive of the family, Curt had a sharp mind and quick wit. He was a talented golfer, graceful and strong swimmer, crack crossword puzzler, and avid reader. He loved to sing and to whistle, body surf waves, and keep tabs on his grandchildren. Curt made a late life career change to counseling, and with his volunteer affiliations, impacted the lives of many.
Curt was a courageous man who traversed many difficulties and losses. He was a direct, honest, and humble man devoted to helping others. His wisdom and quiet spirituality guided his life and rendered him a good friend to people of all ages, including his children. He is greatly loved and will be missed.
