CPO Thomas Eli Buckhannon, Jr. (USN, Ret.)

CPO Thomas Eli Buckhannon, Jr., (USN, Ret.), 79, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Carolyn Sigers Buckhannon went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 22, 2017. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 in the First United Methodist Church, Isle of Palms, 12 21st Avenue at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 pm.

Tom was born August 4, 1937 in Watson, West Virginia, son of the late Thomas Eli Buchannon, Sr. and the late Pearl White Buchannon. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy and was a member of the First United Methodist Church on the Isle of Palms. Following retirement from the Navy, Tom was a Police Officer with the Isle of Palms Police Department and the proud owner of The Islander Restaurant on the Isle of Palms. Tom and his wife enjoyed traveling with the Holiday Rambler RV Club. Tom was also a Past Master of Etiwan Lodge #95, Past Master of Ft. Moultrie Lodge #428, Past Pursuviant of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons, 32nd degree, KCCH of the Scottish Rites, Past High Priest, Past Illustrious Master and Past Commander of the Charleston York Bodies. He was also the Past Sovereign Master and Past Governor of Charlestowne Council #195, AMD, Order of the Purple Cross with Charlestowne York Rite College #113, Red Cross of Constantine with The Saints John Conclave, Noble of Omar Shrine Temple, Mt. Pleasant, Order of the Amaranth, Past Grand Royal Patron of Lawrence Howell Court #7 and Past Watchman of Shepherds, Order of the White Shrine with Charleston Shrine #4.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn S. Buckhannon of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son, Thomas E. Buckhannon, III (Carol) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Jeanette B. Sewell (Harry) of Isle of Palms, SC; brother, James Robert Buckhannon (Shirley) of Bradenton, FL; three sisters, Dixie Nemoseck of Aneheim, CA, Diane Harris (Roger) of Austin, TX and Debbie Baxter (Bruce) of Jackson, MI; six grandchildren, H. Jason Sewell (Brandy), Thomas E. Buckhannon, IV (Melissa), Jaime Edwards (Jared), Wm. Taylor Buckhannon, Mariah Sewell and Bryson Buckhannon; and six great grandchildren, John Austin Sewell, Jacob Sewell, Chloe Edwards, Ella Grace Edwards, Abigail Buckhannon and Lily Kate Edwards; and many beloved nieces, nephews and in-law family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Timothy Allen Buckhannon.
