Constance Rae Heywood

Constance Rae Heywood, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Don Horsfall Heywood entered into eternal rest, Friday, May 12, 2023. Her memorial service will be held Monday, August 14, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, SC 29406 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1:00 pm.

Constance was born August 14, 1944 in Delphos, Ohio, daughter of the late Albert Bernard Weisgerber and Ruth Scherger Weisgerber. Constance was a dedicated Navy wife. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, crafting and was an avid cross stitcher. She also helped raise two of her granddaughters. What she valued most was her family and spending time with them. 

She is survived by her husband, Don Horsfall Heywood of North Charleston, SC; three children: Greg Heywood (Paula) of Summerville, SC, Christine Cormier (Arthur) of Summerville, SC, and Robert Heywood (Anne) of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren: Stephanie Rae Piepoli (Mark), Derek Cormier (Alyssa), Morgan Rae Heywood (Steve),  Madison Emily Heywood, and Wesley Robert Heywood; one great-granddaughter, Raelyn Ann Piepoli; four siblings: Judy Joynt (Herb) of MI, Karen Strom (Peter) of CA, John Weisgerber (Gail) of MI, and Steve Weisgerber (Diana) of MI; brother-in-law, David Hughes of MI and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Miriam Hughes. 

Memorials may be made to Roper Hospice, 8536 Palmetto Commerce Parkway, Suite 207B, Ladson, SC 29456.
