Connor Bernell Shuler, 94, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 26, 2017. The family will receive friends Friday, December 29, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 in St. Mark United Methodist Church, 413 Geddes Ave, at 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow at Island Cemetery, Providence, SC at 2:00 p.m.
Bernell was born December 30, 1922 in Orangeburg, SC, son of the late Victor Hugo Shuler and Ethel Way Shuler. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. Bernell retired after 30 years with the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Supervisor of the Sheet Metal Shop. He was a Charter Member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer for over 20 years and was a member of the United Methodist Men.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie Almand Shuler of Charleston, SC, daughter Susan Studebaker (Greg Mitchum), daughter-in-law Terry Shuler, brother-in-law Phillip Perrey, and three grandchildren, Kevin Shuler (Amanda), Allison Grantis (Jim), and Shelby Studebaker.He was predeceased in death by his son, Bryan Connor Shuler, and his two sisters, Fairey Shuler Perrey and Cecile Shuler Stahler.
