Colton Matthew Browder, 17, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 8, 2026. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at the First Baptist School of Charleston - James Island Campus, 2055 George L Griffith Blvd, James Island, SC, 29412 at 11:00 am. Interment to immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will be held at the James Island Yacht Club, 734 Wampler Dr, Charleston, SC 29412, following the service.
Colton Browder was born on June 3, 2009, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, to Timothy Jay Browder and Kelly Elizabeth Summersell Browder.
Colton was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend and classmate who never failed to bring joy and laughter into the lives of everyone who knew him. His quick wit and comedic timing were matched only by his work ethic that far surpassed his years. He will be remembered fondly and deeply missed by his family, friends, classmates, and all whose lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by brother, Caleb Timothy Browder of Spartanburg; his sister, Carly Elizabeth Browder of James Island; his Mimi, Elizabeth Gail Summersell of James Island; Aunt, Lori Summersell (Titi) of James Island; Uncle, Bernard Browder of Summerville; cousin, Brianna (Thomas) Heffron and her children, Bindi and Beckett of Columbia; and cousin, Huntley Summersell of Summerville.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Huntley Summersell Sr. (Poppy); his paternal grandparents, Lois and Archie Browder (Grandmommy and Granddaddy); and his maternal uncle, William Huntley Summersell Jr..
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colton Browder Memorial Scholarship Fund or checks may be made to First Baptist School and mailed to the business office at 48 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401 memo line "Colton Browder Memorial".
