Colleen Tomkinson Johnson

March 14, 1928 — June 30, 2016

Colleen Tomkinson Johnson, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Charles Edward Johnson, Lt. Col. USAF, entered into eternal rest Thursday, June 30, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in Saint James Church, 1872 Camp Road at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Saint James Churchyard. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. A catered reception will be held at the church following the interment. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Colleen was born March 14, 1928 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Charles D. Tomkinson and Grace P. Weaver Tomkinson. She grew up on Anson Street and attended The Bennett School on St. Philip Street. She was a member of the Footlight Players and the first graduating class of North Charleston High School and was Miss Charleston 1947. She was a member of Saint James Church.

She is survived by her three sons: Charles E. Johnson, Jr. of Folly Beach, SC, Stephen N. Johnson of James Island, SC, Thomas C. Johnson, M.D. (Stacey) of Isle Of Palms, SC; daughter, Jana Harris Johnson Fine of Charleston, SC; grandson, Thomas Clayton Johnson, II; sister, Bessarabia Hoggle, of West Finley, PA; and godson, Chief E. Edward Driggers.
