Coach Thomas "Tom" Joe Kirk

Coach Thomas "Tom" Joe Kirk, 77, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of 52 years to Beverly Kinquist Kirk, entered into eternal rest Saturday, April 12, 2025. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Thomas was born January 18, 1948, in Rapid City, South Dakota, son of Lt. Col. Eugene Kirk and Esther Kirk. Tom attended Junior College at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina where football became his passion, and then went on to earn his Bachelor's degree at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina where he continued his football career. Coach Kirk went on to spend 36 years coaching; One year at Berkeley High School, 5 years at Boiling Spring High School, and then 30 years at Wando High School. Tom was also Assistant Coach for North-South High School game. Throughout his coaching career, he impacted many student athletes while not only coaching but teaching them life lessons. Next to coaching, he also enjoyed fishing and shrimping on his time off and was a part of the Order of the Arrow-Boy Scouts. Tom also enjoyed cooking and considered himself as the "Master" chef. Mr. Kirk was preceded in death by a brother, Daivd Kirk.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Eugene Kirk (Kelli); daughter, Julia Kirk Crews (Zac); Five grandchildren, Ethan Kirk, Emerson Kirk, Cace Crews, McKenna Crews, and Remi Crews; sister, Linda McMillan (Bruce); two brothers, Michael Kirk and Kenneth Kirk (Charlotte).
