CMSgt. Milton Paul Terre, Jr. USAF Ret, 87, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and husband of Juanita June Terre entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 14, 2024. His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with Military Honors will be at Dorchester Memorial Gardens 11000 Dorchester Road Summerville, SC 29483 on Sunday April 28th at 2:00 pm.
Milton was born February 8, 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana, son of the late Milton Paul Terre and Georgina Rodriguez Terre. After graduating from Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, he attended LSUNO, Southern Illinois University and Trident Technical College in pursuit of his BS degree in Vocational Education.
He was a true patriot and enjoyed a long and distinguished military career. Beginning in 1954 Milton was a reservist in the Marine Corps assigned to VMF 143 Naval Air Station in New Orleans as a plane captain/gunner on AD4 and A4D aircraft.
In 1957 he joined the Air Force as an engine mechanic working on C-214,C-97, C-47 and C-133 aircraft serving the 1501st Periodic Maintenance Squadron,Travis AFB, Ca. He was also assigned to the test program for flight engineers where engine mechanics were trained as 3rd flight engineers.
He joined the AF Reserves in 1961 working as an aircraft mechanic, flight mechanic and later as a flight engineer on C-124 aircraft. In 1977 he became the Aerospace Systems Branch Superintendent.
His career took him to many different bases including New Orleans, Washington, Florida and Georgia. He retired as the Inspection Flight Chief at Charleston Air Force Base. During his honorable service he earned combat crew wings from the USMC and senior flight engineer wings in the USAF. Also he received many accolades and his decorations include Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Combat Readiness, Army/Air Forces Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Reserve Meritorious Service and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship. Best of all he met and married his wife Juanita who at that time was a USAF nurse.
Outside of his military service Milton was busy on the Goose Creek Recreation Commission beginning in 2009 and a Shriner. He enjoyed antique cars, his garden, basking in the sun, and playing Santa.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Juanita June of Goose Creek; two daughters, Christel Lynn Irick of North Charleston, and Kimberly Anne Terre of Hanahan; two grandchildren, Erin Leigh Terre, and Kira Marie Irick; nephew, George Edward Terre Jr.; nieces, Retha Webber and Stephanie Pousson; cousins, George Edward Terre III, Dana Terre, Caroline Terre, Cassidy Terre, Anthony Webber, Cameron Webber, Adrianna Pousson, Savannah Pousson, Caleb Emyard, Eduardo Palmer.
