Cmdr. Albert A. Wood

Entered into eternal rest on the evening of January 5, 2011, Cmdr. Albert Aloysius Wood, Jr., US Navy (Ret.) widower of Regina Keith Wood. Residence, Mt. Pleasant, SC.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10:00 am, in Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Road. Rite of Committal will be held in Beaufort National Cemetery at 1:00 pm with full military honors . Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Sunday between 5:00 and 7:00 pm.


Cmdr. Wood, Jr. was born September 29, 1922 in West Easton, Pennsylvania, the son of Albert Wood, Sr. and Ellen Flynn Wood.  He was a 1940 graduate of Easton Catholic High School. "Bud" Wood, a Mustang, served 30 years in the United States Navy. He was a plank owner of the USS Nautilus and a World War II Sub-Vet.  He attended Church of the Nativity and Christ Our King Catholic Church.


He is survived by two daughters: Jean W. Darden (Jerry) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Dolores Wood (David McAlister) of James Island, SC; three sons: Michael D. Wood of Santa Ana, CA, Christopher F. Wood (Judy) of Ormond, FL, and Timothy G. Wood of Charleston, SC. He is predeceased by one son, Jonathan Albert Wood.
