Clyde Calvin Allen, Sr., 89, of Waynesville, NC, husband of the late Bessie Mae Mathis Allen died Monday, February 6, 2017 in Mount Pleasant, SC. His Funeral Service will be held graveside Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clyde, NC at 2:00 PM.. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Clyde was born July 4, 1927 in Canton, NC, son of the late Thomas Ben Allen and the late Lucy Hawkins Allen. He was a machinist with Champion Papers International. He was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church.

He is survived by his only son, Clyde Calvin Allen, Jr. (wife, Marianne) of Mount Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Allison Allen, Alexis Bednar, and Matthew Allen; two great-grandchildren, Raomi and Miles Bednar; and one of his eight siblings, Jerry L. Allen of NC.
