Claudia Broughton Laugherty

Claudia Broughton Laugherty, 77, of North Charleston, SC, peacefully passed away January 24, 2023.

Claudia was born January 14, 1946 in Americus, Georgia, daughter of the late John Broughton, Jr. and Hanson Broughton of Charleston, SC.

Claudia was an active member of Seventh Day Adventist Church throughout her entire life and a faithful servant to her Lord Jesus Christ. She loved playing the piano and organ for church services and wherever she could to bless others. She also served as a teacher in the Sabbath School Children's Division. 
 
Claudia worked most recently as a CNA. She also worked as a medical transcriptionist through civil service at the VA Hospital for many years as well as at the Medical University of SC, in Charleston.

She enjoyed music, gardening, cooking, and most of all being with her family and friends. Claudia will be remembered as a selfless, altruistic, wife and mother who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Never complaining and always trying to see the the best in everything. 

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

She is survived by her son, Thomas Russom (Alesha); daughter, Paula Hagenburg; sisters, Janice Broughton and Helen Suggs and many grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. 

Preceding Claudia in death are her parents; brother, John Broughton, III; sister, Cecilia Campbell; son-in-law, Dallas Hagenburg; brothers-in-law, Sammy Campbell and Jerry Suggs.
 
Please join us celebrating her life Sunday, February 5, 2023. The family will receive visitors from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with the Memorial Service following from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC 29414.
