Clarence Franklin Overton

Clarence "Bill" Overton, 87, of North Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 26, 2021. His graveside service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021, at the Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue at 1:00 pm. The family will receive family and friends Friday, January 29, 2021 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Clarence was born in Charleston, SC, July 5, 1933, son of the late Hobson Overton and the late Maryrose Mildred Watkins. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. Upon returning home to Charleston, he eventually started Overton Electric Company Inc., which was in business in Charleston from 1959 to 2011. He was a Past Master of the Franklin Chapter #96 of the Masonic Lodge and a Member of the Omar Shrine. Bill served as a former member of the SC National Guard, US Air Force and US Naval Reserve "Seabees." He was a Past President and member of the Charleston Electrical Contractors Association and a member of the Mechanical Contractors Association of South Carolina.He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Agnes K. Overton.

He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He will be forever loved and missed by all.He is survived by five children: Theresa O. Keller of Taylors, SC, Cynthia O. Smith of Goldsboro, NC, Russell D. Overton of North Charleston, SC, Pamela O. Dulin (Michael) of Orange Park FL, and Clarence "Chet" Overton Jr. (Dana) of Summerville, SC. Seven grandchildren: Edwin P. "Dusty" Keller III, wife (Susan), Shannon K. Copper, husband (Anthony), Kiersten S. Tysinger, husband (Andrew), Patrick D. Overton, wife (Melissa), Joshua M. Dulin, Jeremiah M. Dulin (Tanya) and Clarence "Trey" Overton III. He has nine great-grandchildren: Ezra Keller, Levi Keller, Daisy Keller, Judah Copper, Hailey Overton, Ellie Overton, Nevaeh Dulin, Daisey Dulin, Mikey O'dell. One niece, Sonja Grinstead of Rock Hill, SC
