Clarence H. James, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on March 9, 2018. His Memorial Service will be on Friday, March 16, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:30 am until time of service. Inurnment will be private.
Clarence H. James, known to everyone as "Jimmy," was born on January 31, 1929 in Far Rockaway, NY. He was a great sports enthusiast and played basketball in high school and college. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Isle of Palms Exchange Club. Jimmy was a former Rotarian and member of the Temple Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim. Jimmy loved all sports but in particular basketball and golf. His greatest love however was for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, William and Charlotte James of Asheville, NC, and Scott and Laura James of Mount Pleasant, SC. His two grandsons are Keith and Evan, and a granddaughter, Sydney. He was preceded in death by his wife Miriam and daughter Julie Anne, both of whom passed away in November, 1962. Before moving to Mt. Pleasant, SC, he lived in Charlotte, NC for 40 years. He owned a manufacturers rep. business dealing in textiles. He is also survived by his partner, Betty Witman.
