Clara Elizabeth Perkins

Betty Perkins, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, wife of the late Gerald "Perk" Perkins died Friday, August 22, 2014. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 , in J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, at 2:00 pm . Entombment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Betty was born October 9, 1925 in Paxville, SC, the oldest of 15 children of the late Joe Garnett and the late Beulah Thigpen Garnett. She was a former manager at Alex's restaurant where she was affectionately known as "Sarge."She is survived by her son Barry Descaro (Romaine) of Ridgeland; grandson, Barry Descaro Jr. of James Island, and three step-grandchildren; brothers, Milton Garnett and Raymond Garnett, both of Florence, Dargan Garnett of Newport News, VA, Jackie Garnett of Sumter; sisters, Eardine Brown of Paxville, Evelyn Karoffa Atlanta, GA, Margaret Kelly of Sumter, Ruth Chambers of Canadys, SC as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald "Perk" Perkins, brothers, Joe Garnett, Thomas "Doc" Garnett , Howard Garnett and sisters, Kathryn Bailey and Alma Lucille Garnett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Manor, 921 Bowman Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
