Claire Pooser Johnson, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, October 22, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 1:00 pm. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel.
Born March 13, 1928 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of George and Anna Belle Dantzler Pooser. Claire was a loving devoted mother, homemaker, avid gardner and enjoyed the art of ceramics along with calligraphy. She was a Telephone Operator for 20 years with Southern Bell and a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of James Island.
She is survived by two daughters: Melody J. Jorudd, and her fiance Dwight Chamberlain of Charleston, SC and Michelle B. Canaday of Johns Island, SC; step-son, Richard William Bock of Ravenel, SC; two sisters: Diane Capozzi of Rochester, NY and Paula Surles of Elizabeth Town, NC; eight grandchildren: Jennica Jorudd and her partner Stefanie Snell, Devin Jorudd, Chandler Jorudd, Michael Carbone, Christer Jorudd, Daniel Jorudd, April Blackburn, Brandy Luker and many great-grandchildren. Ms. Johnson was predeceased by her daughter, Marsha Bock Bivens, a step-daughter, Sandra Bock Aguire and a brother, Yuille Pooser.
