Cindy Lee Osterkamp, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Hubert "Lex" Alexander Osterkamp, Jr., met her Savior face-to-face on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, September 7, 2026 at East Cooper Baptist Church, 361 Egypt Road, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 6, 2026 at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The family will have a private interment at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 11, 1959, Cindy was the second of three daughters born to the late Donald Smith and the late Shirley Rose Smith. She attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia and the University of Maryland, where she majored in vocal performance. Over the years, she appeared in numerous musical productions, including memorable performances as Maria in The Sound of Music and Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun. But some of the sweetest musical memories were much less formal. Her sisters still fondly remember singing "Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog" together when they were young, a reminder that before there were students, church solos, and stage performances, there was simply a girl who loved to sing. She shared her love of music with many generations, teaching music at Palmetto Christian Academy and private voice lessons for many years.

Above everything else, Cindy would want to be remembered for her faith. She was bold in her love for Jesus Christ and never hesitated to tell others that He was her Savior.

Her faith was not merely something she spoke about, but something she lived. In 1990, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. This disease would eventually take much of her physically, and over the years she endured suffering, limitations, and losses that few could fully understand. Yet while MS changed many things about her life, it never changed the foundation of it. Her faith remained steadfast. Even through suffering, she continued to trust in the sovereignty of God. Those who knew and loved Cindy will grieve with hope and assurance knowing this goodbye is not eternal because of the gift of salvation made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her daughter, Ashley, son-in-law Tony; son, Brian, daughter in law, Allison and granddaughters Magnolia and Georgia; siblings Karen Russell and Lori East; many treasured nieces and nephews; and the extraordinary women who lovingly cared for her and became part of our family, caregivers Charmaine Challenger and Shameka McKenzie.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert "Lex" Alexander Osterkamp, Jr. and her son, Daniel Graham Osterkamp.
