Christopher Michael Licata, 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Chris was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 26, 1955. Chris was the beloved husband to Jennifer Blevins, and beloved father and grandfather to his four children and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Margaret (Abbondanza) Licata, and his brother Michael Licata.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, four daughters and their partners, Lauren Licata and Traye Matthews, Christine Licata-Hoang and Anthony Hoang, Heather McEldowney and Virginia Culp, Kelsey and Jonathan Hall. He also leaves behind his two brothers and their wives, Anthony and Lise Licata, Joseph and Christine Gilles, and their children, who will all miss him dearly.
Chris was a man of many interests and talents, affording him the opportunity to travel the world throughout his tenure in telecommunications with Lucent Technologies, and moved on to help many find their home as a realtor for Carolina One Real Estate.
He shared his gift of cooking for many during his time as a chef. He served as Vice Conseiller Culinaire of the Charleston Bailliage of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, including roles as a guest chef for the Bailliage, and member of the dining and executive committees.
He cooked for those in celebration, in grief or in illness, and always an elaborate offering for each and every meal when family was visiting. Chris gave love freely, in particular through the cherished partnership and selfless caretaking of his dear wife, Jennifer. Their love defied all expectations and balanced each other perfectly. His dedication to family as an older brother, a father, a husband, a grandfather, gave him great meaning and purpose. He built deep meaningful friendships and took time and care to connect over shared interests. Chris will be remembered for a full, and beautiful life well lived. His family will miss most his presence and love for them, which is irreplaceable.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Anglican Church (2520 Middle Street, Sullivan’s Island, SC 29482) followed by a Celebration of his life at the same location.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 5:00 - 6:30 pm at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel (1494 Mathis Ferry Road Mount Pleasant, SC 29464).
