Christopher John Kauffman

On September 20, 2023, Christopher "Topher" Kauffman, a cherished husband, father, son, and friend, departed this world at the age of 41. Born in Vorhees, New Jersey in 1981, Topher's untimely passing has left a profound void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Topher was not just a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Sarita Kauffman; their love story was a testament to the enduring power of commitment. Their unwavering support for each other served as an inspiration to all fortunate enough to witness their extraordinary bond. Their shared journey through life was illuminated by love, mutual support, laughter, and countless memories.
Topher epitomized the essence of devoted fatherhood, where family stood as the cornerstone of his existence. His legacy continues through his two beautiful children, 8-year-old Logan and 2-year-old Aurora, who were the very heart of his world. Topher embraced his role as a father with open arms, imparting the values of kindness, bravery, and unconditional love to his cherished children. He believed in nurturing their growth and encouraging their unique spirits, and his legacy thrives as they continue to flourish under his loving guidance.
Although Topher made his home in Summerville, South Carolina, his heart perpetually resided on Folly Beach, where he found solace in the ocean's embrace. He was an ardent surf enthusiast and a passionate lover of all the Marvel Universe. His presence on Folly Beach was like a ray of sunshine, and his affinity for the waves brought him immeasurable joy.
Beyond his love for the ocean, Topher was a saxophone player and an aspiring thespian in his youth. He was an Eagle Scout, embodying the values of leadership, service, and preparedness throughout his life. He expressed his passion for art through his many tattoos that represented important events in his life. With his tattoos and strong personality, he was often stereotyped, but once people got to know him that first impression would instantly vanish.
Topher's unwavering dedication to his community was exemplified through his founding of The Kauffman Group, a Real Estate team in 2016. He served as a mentor to the entire group. He was a true inspiration, championing inclusion, diversity and equality as integral values not only in his practice but in his entire life. His heart was open to all families and individuals seeking a place to call home, and he worked tirelessly to make their dreams a reality and create a family in of itself.
The loss of Topher resonates deeply with all who knew him, leaving a vast void. However, his memory shall forever remain in our hearts; a beacon of love, resilience, and the enduring impact that Topher’s exceptional character had on our lives.
Topher's life was a vibrant tapestry, woven with threads of love, laughter, and boundless compassion. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit shall forever inspire us to live life to the fullest and to embrace the values he held dear.
In addition to his immediate family, Topher is survived by his parents, John and Justina "Tina" Kauffman, and his siblings, Jamie Kauffman (and wife Victoria Kauffman) and Justina Powell (and husband Chris Powell).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Lowcountry Orphan Relief (LOR), Dorchester Paws, or The World Rainforest Fund, causes that held a special place in Topher's heart.
A Celebration of Topher’s Life will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Pelican Watch Pavilion at Folly Beach County Park, whereas a viewing will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and the service will begin at 6:00 PM.
