Christopher McGowan Holmes, Sr., 77, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, beloved husband of Tricia Holmes, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Born on August 3, 1949, in Columbia, South Carolina, Chris was the cherished son of the late Charles Rutledge Holmes and the late Lucille Connor Overstreet Holmes. A dedicated attorney, he found joy in golf, cheering for the Atlanta Braves, enjoying time at Edisto Beach, and especially cherished moments with his grandchildren.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Tricia; his children, Christopher McGowan Holmes, Jr., Sarah Lucille Holmes, and Elizabeth Graham Holmes Harley (Wayland), all of Mount Pleasant, SC; his adored grandchildren, Lucille "Lula" Anne Harley and Robert Graham Harley; stepson, Gray Rains of Charleston, SC; siblings, Lucy Little (Tommy) of Columbia, SC, Melissa "Boo" Robards (Frank) of Sumter, SC, and Tom Holmes (Florence) of Highlands, NC; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Charlie" Rutledge Holmes, Jr.
