Christine Marie Stapleton, 73, of Hanahan, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 17, 2023. She spent her final days surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and family.
She was born on February 27, 1950 the daughter of the late Vernelle Crosby Martin and Norton McRoy Martin.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 8720 Antler Drive in North Charleston, on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Larisey Cemetery in Walterboro. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel, North Charleston.
After high school Christine worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company and was the first female telephone installer to climb a telephone pole. When Christine started her family she enjoyed being at home with them and was actively involved with their schools and activities. Christine was also an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, loved baking for her friends and family, and ran a successful catering business for more than 10 years. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and soon to be great grandmother. She was a friend to everyone she met, and will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched.
Christine was predeceased by her parents: Vernelle Martin and Norton Martin; her husband, Stanley Stapleton; and siblings: Bruce Martin and Louise Denton.
She is survived by her four children, Audra Watson (Alan) of Goose Creek, Martin Stapleton (Ashley) of Hanahan, Spencer Stapleton of Hanahan, Matthew Stapleton (Britney) of Hanahan; her grandchildren, Mary Ashton Dees (Daniel), Bradley, Jaxon, Braxton, Carter, Harrison, Poppy, and one soon-to-be grand and great grandson; brother, Rick Martin of North Charleston; and many nieces and nephews.
