Christian John Frederick Rabens, III, 83, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Shirley Temple Slaten Rabens entered into eternal rest Friday, May 5, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens 3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends Monday, May 8, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
Christian was born November 18, 1939 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Christian J. F. Rabens, Jr. and Lillie Fabian Rabens. He served four years in the Airforce and two years in the Reserves. After he worked for Lockheed Aircraft, he went on to become an entrepreneur owning a Gulf Oil Station, Rabens Tavern, Rabens Painting, Rabens Fiat Repair, Playmate Day School, Spence and Rabens Industrial Tool and Supply Co., the Ships Store at Ripley Light Marina and a Yacht Brokerage Company.
In addition to his wife, Shirley of 59 years, he is survived by three children, Christian J. F. Rabens IV (Marcela), Barbara Rabens Wrench (Johnny) and Brianna "Suzy" Rabens all of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Jennifer Team (Karl), Kirsty Canaday (Andrew) and Jeffrey Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Tanner Rabens Caster, Christian Canaday, Conor Team, Charlie Canaday and Erik Team; one sister. Sandra Rabens Reindollar (Fred) of Charleston, SC; and his beloved companion, Tuxedo.
