He is survived by his wife Carrie Koonce Bortz of Greenville, SC; mother, Archer Lee Hannah Smith of Greer, SC; his father, Dr. Bernard Bortz of Allendale, MI; daughter, Meriam Hannah Bortz of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Laura Byers of Greenville, SC and Joanna B. Daga of Toronto, Ontario Canada.
