Christ L. Zavakos

June 5, 1938 — December 3, 2015

Christ L. Zavakos, 77, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Thursday, December 3, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 11, 2015, in Dayton, Ohio. Interment, Woodland Cemetery. Local arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Christ was born June 5, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Louis K. Zavakos and the late Julia Stathes Zavakos. He graduated from Fairview High School and had a degree in Political Science from University of Cincinnati. He received his Law Degree from Harvard University. Christ served as Assistant Montgomery County Prosecutor. He went on to become a partner in a successful Title Company and later joined the family business as a Bowling Proprietor, owning multiple locations in Ohio and South Carolina, eventually relocating permanently to Charleston, SC.

While he loved the art of a great business deal, what he really valued was time spent with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up. He was truly one of the most generous people, always willing to lend a hand, be a support, offering legal advice or just driving carpool. It was life's simple pleasures that he invested in the most.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, son Lee Zavakos (Janny) of Mt. Pleasant, and their children, Andraya Northrup (Daniel) of Greensboro, NC, Caroline Zavakos of Brooklyn, NY and Nicholas Zavakos of Mt. Pleasant; as well as son Ted Zavakos (Pam) of Dayton, OH and their children, Brad Zavakos of Chicago, IL, Zachary Zavakos of Dayton and Alex Zavakos of Dayton. His former wife and mother of his children, Peggy Kontonickas of Charleston; brother Tasi Zavakos of Dayton; sister Maria Alex (Chris) of MA; brother James Zavakos (Ruthanne) of Dayton; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Dino Zavakos of Dayton, OH.
