November 23, 1948 — October 19, 2021

Chester Clark Wood, Jr., 72, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on October 19, 2021 at the Medical University of South Carolina due to a brain bleed following a fall.

The son of the late Vice Admiral Chester Clark Wood, Sr. and Frances Arnold Wood, Clark was born in Washington, D.C. where his father had served as military aide to President Franklin Roosevelt. Due to his father's naval career, Clark lived in Paris, France; San Diego, CA; Norfolk, VA; Brooklyn, NY and Stonington, CT.

He was a graduate of George Washington University and after college became a banker in Washington, D.C. He retired in 1992 as a branch manager of Signet Bank.

Like his father before him, Clark loved the water and spent many happy hours watching the activity in the Charleston Harbor. He will be remembered as a consummate gentleman with a caring, kind personality who had a joy of life. He was a friend to all.

Clark is survived by his wife of 30 years, Katherine Goltra Wood; his son, Chester "Chet" Clark Wood III; and a niece and two nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Stonington, CT.
