Cheryl was born March 28, 1947 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, daughter of the late J. Presley Gladden and Stella Margaret Hovis. She was a homemaker who loved to sit on the porch and enjoy the day, watching birds and folks passing by. Cheryl was easy going and enjoyed watching her shows like The Golden Girls, Andy Griffith, Lawrence Welk and some soaps. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, too! Whether it was clothing, figurines, portraits or you name it - Cheryl was all about Elvis. She even garnered the nickname of "Mrs. Presley" from her friends at White Oak Manor. More than anything, Cheryl was about her family - and spending time with her grandbabies was one of her favorite things to do.
She is survived by four loving daughters: Marguerite (Robin Vannoy) Platt, Rhonda Lynn (Danny) Woods, Bethany Jane Platt and Ashley Nicole (Douglas, II) Silva; two grandchildren; Melody Joy Woods and Isabel Vannoy and one sister, Stephanie Gladden of Manning, SC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and recently her dear friend Lorraine Longshore.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Cheryl's name to the White Oak Manor Resident Activity Fund, c/o White Oak Manor, 9285 Medical Plaza Drive, Charleston, SC 29406.
