Charlotte Elaine Allen

May 15, 1953 — April 19, 2021

Charlotte Elaine Allen, 67, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Monday, April 19, 2021. Her celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 5:00 pm in the J. Henry Stuhr West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy.

Charlotte was born May 15, 1953 in Camden, New Jersey, daughter of the late Ralph Eric Hanson and Marilyn Stohl Hanson. She loved the beach, crafting, local theater and arts, and helping others. She is sadly missed by her beloved cat, Zoey.

Her calling to help others guided her through life and led to many professional accomplishments. She earned a diploma in practical nursing at Florida Junior College, a Bachelor of Arts in sociology at Eastern Connecticut State University, and a Master of Social Work at the University of South Carolina. She worked as a nurse, social worker, counselor, family therapist, adoption specialist, and in several other roles that always benefited those in need of help.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Ellison and his team with Roper Hospital and Crescent Hospice, specifically her nurse, Christine.

She is survived by her mother; daughter, Kristen (James) Ducharme of Charleston, SC; sisters, Kathy (Peter) Lovely and Diane Hayes; nieces, Ashley Hanson-Chavez and Michelle Hayes; and nephews, Bryan Hayes and Kevin Lovely.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Alan Hayes.

Memorials may be made in her honor to Charleston SPCA and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
