Charles Evans Thompson

Charles Evans Thompson, 76, of James Island, South Carolina, husband of Dr. Jean McKee Thompson entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 13, 2022. His service will be held graveside Saturday, December 17, 2022, Carolina Memorial Gardens 7113 Rivers Ave. N Charleston, SC at 12:30 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Charlie was born February 5, 1946 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, son of the late Charles M. Thompson and Frances Welch Thompson. He served in the United States Army and held a high regard to the security clearance he received. Charlie was very active in the sport of fencing and was the women's coach at Clemson University for many years. He was a professor at Trident Technical College where he taught physics based astronomy. He also sang in the Charleston Men's Chorus.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Charles Edward Thompson of Atlanta, GA, Kirby McClanahan Thompson (Tiffany) of West Ashley, SC and Brian Christopher Thompson of Lincoln, AL; grandchildren, Kyle Thompson and Taylor Thompson; brothers, Forrest Thompson (Maria) and Gary Thompson (Carla); nephew, Rory Thompson; niece, Phoebe Thompson; brothers-in-law, Dr. Edward Michael McKee (Linda) and William McKee; sisters-in-law, Ann Fuller (Dr. Thomas Ralph Fuller) and Suzanne McKee. He was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Christine McKee.
