Charles Edgar Walters

April 20, 1932 — December 14, 2012

Charles Edgar Walters, 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, December 14, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3075 Bees Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC.,WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Charles was born April 20, 1932 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Edgar B. Walters and Emma Schulz Walters. He was a retired Captain with The Charleston Naval Shipyard Fire Department. Charles was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during Korea, served as a Dixie Youth Softball Coach and umpired for St. Andrews Park and Playground for 33 years. Charles was an avid birder with over 500 birds on his life list.

He is survived by his daughter, Alisa Zeringue of Woodland, CA; three sons, Charles E. Walters Jr. of St. Marys, GA, Steve Walters of Charleston, SC and Richard Walters of Cottageville, SC; his sister, Shirley Ann Borowsky of Andrews, SC; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his friend, Laney Ayer of Charleston SC.
